BILLINGS, Mont. - The Northwest Nazarene softball team dropped a pair of GNAC games this afternoon at Montana State University Billings, falling 11-0 in game one and 12-4 in the second game.
MSUB's Amanda Todd tossed a one-hitter at the Crusaders in the opener, allowing only
Arielle Chao to claim a safety.
The Yellowjackets (14-5, 11-3 GNAC) scored twice in the first, added six in the third and three in the fourth, taking the 11-0 decision in five innings.
The Crusaders (3-13, 3-9 GNAC) created some offense in game two as both
Elizabeth Beaty and
Cara Duckworth hit home runs. Beaty smacked a solo shot while Duckworth added a two-run dinger in the fifth, extending the game into the bottom half of the inning.
MSUB led 9-2 into the fifth and Duckworth's production cut the lead to 9-4, however, the 'Jackets plated three in the bottom of the fifth to end the game due to the 8-run rule.
The teams will return on Saturday to complete the four-game league series with a 1:00 p.m scheduled start.
