NAMPA, Idaho - Simon Fraser's Cara Lukawesky tossed a no-hitter in the opener and the Clan went on to sweep a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball twinbill 6-0 and 7-1 against Northwest Nazarene on Saturday at Halle Field.
The Clan (13-4, 9-3 GNAC) scored four first-inning runs and added single insurance runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.
The Crusaders (3-11, 3-7 GNAC) were held in check by Lukawesky, who walked four, but struck out seven and improved to 8-2 inside the circle.
Kelsey Haberl and Leah Riske each went 3 for 3 in game one and both Brittany Ribeiro and Sammie Olexa had two hits and two RBI's.
SFU's Kelsie Hawkins (5-2) earned the win in game two, allowing one earned run in the third when the Crusaders rallied for three-straight singles.
NNU's
Emily Renfrow singled through the right side with one out, moved to second on an
Arielle Chao saftey and then scored when
Kristin Refsland singled down the left field line.
Kendra Day accounted for the other Crusader hit, a single in the second.
Haberl, the GNAC batting leader, again paced SFU in game two, going 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI's and Riske matched Haberl with two more RBI's.
Chelsey Anderson (1-5) took the game one pitching loss and
Cara Duckworth (2-6) fell in game two.
The Crusaders will return to action next weekend at Montana State Billings.
