Megan Hingston led the Crusaders with 19 points and
Heather Adams converted key free throws in the final seconds as the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team won 58-54 at Central Washington on Saturday afternoon in Ellensburg.
The conference victory pushes the Crusaders to 13-7 overall and 7-5 in GNAC play. Central Washington falls to 6-13 overall and 3-9 in league action.
Hingston was one of three NNU players to reach double-figures as
Chelsie Luke added 16 and
Briaunna King added her 12th double-double of the season, a 13 point - 10 rebound effort.
Sophie Russell led the Wildcats with a game-high 26 points and became the sixth player in CWU women's basketball history to reach the 1,000 career point mark.
Central Washington held a 28-27 lead at the half, but the Crusaders used a seven-point run with 12:03 to play to pull away from a 39-39 tie and lead the rest of the way. Adams sealed the win with a free throw with 5.3 seconds left to give NNU a four-point margin.
The Crusaders committed just 11 turnovers and forced 20, a key to the NNU victory, as Central Washington out-rebounded NNU 44 to 27.
NNU will return to homecourt action next weekend, hosting Seattle Pacific on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Montana State Billings on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
