Crusaders defeat Saints, earn 3rd seed in GNAC tournament

NAMPA, Idaho - Falissa Smith scored a team-high 13 points as the Crusaders defeated Simon Fraser University 61-42 on Senior Night in the final Great Northwest Athletic Conference game of the season at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.

Smith, one of four Crusaders seniors playing her final home game, led NNU with 13 points and Chelsie Luke added 10.  Fellow seniors Briaunna King scored nine and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds and Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili added eight.  Monica Garcia, her season cut short by a knee injury, made a late-game appearance in her final collegiate game and attempted one three-pointer.

Megan Hingston grabbed nine rebounds and scored eight as the Crusaders out-rebounded the Saints 48-31.

Chelsea Haskey scored a game-high 15 to lead SMU.  The Saints finish the season 9-19 overall and 4-14 in GNAC play.

GNAC Tournament Preview...

NNU finishes the regular season 17-9 overall and 11-7 in conference games, earning the third-seed in next week's GNAC conference tournament to be held in Lacey, Wash. on the Saint Martin's campus. 

The Crusaders, who are tied with Seattle Pacific and Simon Fraser at 11-7, win the tiebreaker based on holding a 3-1 record against both Seattle Pacific and Simon Fraser.  SPU earns the fourth-seed and Simon Fraser will be the fifth-seed.  Montana State Billings will be the sixth-seed.
