BURNABY, B.C. - Four Crusaders scored in double-figures as the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team defeated Simon Fraser University 71-67 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at Burnaby.
Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili scored a team-high 18, Meagan Hingston added 14 and both
Briaunna King and
Chelsie Luke scored 11 as NNU improved to 15-9 overall and 9-7 in GNAC action and stay in the hunt for a GNAC post-season tournament bid.
Simon Fraser's Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe scored a game-high 37 points and pulled down 13 rebounds but it was a solo effort as only one other Clan player reached double-figures in Carla Wyman with 10 points. Raincock-Ekunwe took 23 of SFU's 53 shots.
NNU out-rebounded SFU 36-32 as both Hingston and King grabbed nine and Luke and Dzhidzhiyeshvili had five apiece.
The Crusaders will return home to close out the regular season next weekend, hosting Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. both nights.
