NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Carroll College 71-54 in tonight's non-conference action held at the Johnson Sports Center on the campus of NNU.
The Crusaders used a 23 to 9 run to open up the first half.
Chelsie Luke had 12 points in the first half with 9 of them coming from beyond the arc.
Taylor Simmons had 8 points and 6 assists in the first 20 minutes of play. NNU went into the half leading 52-28.
Luke finished the game with 18 points on 6 of 16 shooting. The Crusaders had five players in double figures.
Taylor Simmons had 13 points and 7 assists;
Megan Hingston had 12 points in 15 minutes of play. Kylee Shierman posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Cierra White chipped in 10 points off the bench for NNU.

Torrie Cahill led the Saints with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Megan Patterson had 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting.
The Crusaders were 27 of 56 (48.2-percent) from the floor and 10 of 22 (45.5-perecent) from beyond the three-point line. NNU was 7 of 10 (70-perecent) from the charity stripe. The Saints were 15 of 43 (34.9-percent) from the field and 17 of 25 (68.0-percent) from the foul line. NNU had 15 assists and forced 23 turnovers.
NNU jumps to 6-2 overall and remains 0-2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action. Carroll falls to 5-4 overall. The Crusaders will now travel to Lacey, Washington next week to take part in the Saint Martin's University Classic. NNU will face Dominican University on Friday at 5:15 p.m. and Simpson University at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
