Falcons Clip The Crusaders 76-69

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team was handed their first loss of the season after falling 76-69 to Seattle Pacific University in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match-up.
 
Junior Megan Hingston had 19 points for the Crusaders on 7 of 18 shooting from the floor. Teammate Chelsie Luke added 10 points and had a team-high 7 rebounds.
 
“We did a good job forcing SPU into 24 turnovers,” commented head coach Kelli Lindley, “Unfortunately we were unable to capitalize and hit shots consistently. Our ladies battled hard all night. SPU is very tough and shot the ball really well tonight.”
 
The Crusaders had 26 points off of the 24 forced turnovers. NNU was 26 of 71 (36.6-percent) from the floor and 13 of 19 (72.2-percent) from the charity stripe.
 
Katie Benson led the Falcons with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Rachel Murray added 12 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds. The Falcons out-rebound the Crusaders 46-34. SPU was 26 of 54 (48.1-percent) from the floor and 6 of 12 (50.0-percent) from beyond the three-point line. The Falcons improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in GNAC play.
 
NNU will now travel to Billings, Montana to take on the Yellow Jackets of Montana State University Billings on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Alterowitz Gymnasium. The game can be seen live at http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/nnu.portal#.
