NAMPA, Idaho – The Crusader women's basketball team defeated the Academy of Art University 66-62 in tonight's second game of the Fairfield Inn Classic held at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho.
Junior
Chelsie Luke led the Crusaders with 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the floor.
Megan Hingston added 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while
Kylee Schierman had 12 points and 8 rebounds to help lead the Crusaders past the Knights of Academy of Art.
“I give a lot of credit to Academy of Art, they are a very quick and athletic team,” commented head coach
Kelli Lindley, “ I am happy that our girls were able to hit some big three's down the stretch and also make some clutch free throws when we needed them. Academy of Art did a great job of making us uncomfortable on offense but our girls responded well and earned a really good win against a good team.”
Ariel Dale led the Knights with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Katy Wade added 13 points and 6 rebounds for Academy of Art.
The Crusaders were 21 of 56 (37.5-percent) from the floor and 19 of 24 (79.2-percent) from the foul line. The Knights shot 20 of 60 (33.3-percent) from the field and 19 of 26 (73.1-percent) from the charity stripe.
The Crusaders will now face Metro State University tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. in the final game of the Fairfield Inn Classic held at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho. Central Washington University and Academy of Art University will tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
