NAMPA, Idaho - Trailing by nine with 4:28 to play the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team sent the game to overtime with a 13-4 run and outscored Central Washington by three in the extra period to claim a 91-88 league victory tonight at the Johnson Sports Center.
Megan Hingston, who hit the game-tying bucket with 19 seconds to play in regulation, led the Crusaders with 27 points and five rebounds and was one of four Crusaders to reach double-figures.
Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and six steals,
Briaunna King posted the game's only double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and
Heather Adams chipped in with 11 points and a game-high six assists.
The game-ending run answered a tremendous shooting effort from the Wildcats (4-8, 1-4 GNAC) who made 17 three-pointers, shooting 43.6-percent from the arc at 17 for 39.
CWU's Alex Dunn scored a game-high 28 points that included a five-of-seven mark from the three-point line and Jessica Van Dyke added 27 points and a team-best eight rebounds. Van Dyke hit on six-of-11 from the three-point line.
Freshman Courtney Johnson added 14 points, all on three-pointers (4 of 7) and a pair of free throws.
The Crusaders (9-4, 3-2 GNAC) edged the Wildcats on the glass (41-40), dished out 16 assists against 14 turnovers, and outscored CWU 28 to 13 at the free throw line.
NNU will travel to both Montana State Billings and Seattle Pacific next weekend in GNAC counters.
