Nampa, Idaho - All five Northwest Nazarene University starters reached double digits, leading them to a 75-62 victory over Western Washington in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match up at the Johnson Sports Center.
Leading the Crusaders was senior guard Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvilli with 20 points and six steals, with 15 of her 20 points coming in the first half. Senior post
Briaunna King netted 17 points, all coming in the second half. King added 14 rebounds, giving her three double-doubles in a row and 10 on the season to help the Crusaders get their second GNAC win of the weekend.
Chelsea Luke also added a double-double of her own, scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds, giving her two double-doubles on the season.
Falissa Smith and
Megan Hingston both scored 10 points to help balance the attack from the starting squad.
The Crusaders out rebounded the Vikings 49-41 and scored 21 second chance points while also forcing 25 turnovers. NNU shot 76-percent (19-25) from the foul line while WWU was just five of 10 from the stripe. The Vikings shot 5 for 24 (20.8-percent) from beyond the arc and 36.1-percent (26-72) overall and the Crusaders finished 26 of 66 (39.4-percent) from the field and 4 of 9 from the three-point line.
The Vikings were lead by Trishi Williams with 15 points and 9 rebounds in 32 minutes of play. Katie Colard added four 3-pointers off the bench giving her 14 points total on the night. Freshman post Kayla Bernsen added her own double-double of the night with 11 points and 11 boards in only 19 minutes of play for the Vikings.
Western Washington drop to 12-5 overall and 6-3 in the GNAC.
The Crusaders, with two wins on the weekend now go to 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the GNAC.
NNU will travel to Alaska next weekend to take on GNAC first-place Alaska Anchorage on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Crusaders will return to home action February 9th at 7 p.m. against Seattle Pacific University.
