NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team used a dominate rebounding performance to defeat Simon Fraser University 76-72 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the Johnson Sports Center.

The Crusaders (10-6, 4-4 GNAC) out-rebounded Simon Fraser 41-27, finished with 22 offensive rebounds and converted those into 19 second-chance points.

Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili scored a team-high 20 points and Briaunna King posted an 18 point - 13 rebound double-double to lead the Crusaders past the Clan.  Of King's 13 rebounds, nine were on the offensive end.  Megan Hingston scored 12 and had seven rebounds.

The Crusaders evened their conference record with the win as they rallied from a five-point second half deficit against the Clan (10-6, 5-3).

SFU led 54-49 with 12:28 remaining, but King put NNU ahead for good 63-62 with a basket at 6:13, then converted a three-point play for a four-point lead (66-62) with 4:24 remaining.

SFU later pulled to within three points on four different occassions, including 75-72 on a basket by Kristina Collins with nine seconds left, but never got closer.

After Collins' final field goal, NNU's Falissa Smith clinched the win making one of two foul shots.

NNU led by as many as 11 points in the first half (30-19) and were up by eight (39-31) at halftime before the Clan used a 23-10 run to start the second half pull ahead. SFU shot 56.0 percent (14-25) in the period.

Kristina Collins scored a game-high 22 points for SFU and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe added 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Chelsea Reist scored 13 points.

NNU finished 30 of 70 (42.9-percent) from the field and 4 of 8 from the three-point line, while Simon Fraser shot 52.8-percent (28-53) from the field and 8 of 21 from the arc.  Both teams were efficient at the foul line as SFU was 8 of 10 and the Crusaders were 12 of 13.

Dzhidzhiyeshvili, who ranks 12th-nationally in total steals, grabbed five steals tonight to help force the Clan into 25 turnovers.

The Crusaders will host Western Washington University on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in a GNAC counter.
