BILLINGS, Mont. - The Northwest Nazarene and Montana State Billings softball teams closed out the regular-season on Saturday as the Yellowjackets swept the Crusaders 10-5 and 8-0 at Cenex Stadium in Billings.
The Yellowjackets (28-20, 23-13) won 13 of their final 15 games and were 22-9 under interim coach Lisa Allen after starting the season at 6-11.
The Crusaders (17-30, 16-19), who won a school-record 16 league games in 2011, split the season-series with MSUB 3-3, having won 3 of 4 in Nampa on March 11th and 12th.
Bobbie Lee, who ranks second in the GNAC with a .432 batting average, had three hits for MSUB, scored two runs and drove in two in the opener, then had two hits, scored one and drove in two in the nightcap.
MSUB built a 10-0 lead in the first game before the Crusaders extended the game beyond five innings by scoring three in the fifth on a home run by Kristin Refsland.
NNU got two more in the sixth on a home run by Arielle Chao before Amanda Todd finished off the contest by striking out a career-high 12. She had 11 strikeouts in her two-hitter Thursday against Central Washington.
