Megan Hingston scored 17 and
Briaunna King added a 14 point - 11 rebound double-double to lead the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team to an 83-62 conference victory over the University of Alaska Fairbanks tonight at the Johnson Sports Center.
Hingston and King led four NNU players into double-figures as the Crusaders improve to 2-1 in league action and 8-3 overall.
Monica Garcia netted 13 and
Chelsie Luke scored 10 as the Crusaders returned from Christmas break to shoot 45.2-percent (33-73) from the floor and go five-of-15 (33-percent) from the three-point line.
Nicole Bozek led the Nanooks (0-2 GNAC, 4-8 Overall) with a game-high 20 points. Autumn Greene chipped in with 12 as the Crusaders held UAF to 38.9-percent shooting at 21 of 54 from the field. The Nanooks went four-of-11 (36.4-percent) from the arc and were just 16 of 27 (59.3-percent) from the free throw line.
NNU forced 27 Nanook turnovers and out-rebounded UAF 46 to 36.
The Crusaders will host the University of Alaska Anchorage on Saturday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. New Year's Eve matinee tip-off against the Seawolves.
