MONMOUTH, Ore. - Megan Hingston exploded for a career-high 32 points to lead the Northwest Nazarene women's basketball team to a 87-80 victory over Cal State Los Angeles in the 2011 Phoenix Inn D2 Shootout, hosted by Western Oregon University.

Hingston added a game-high 13 rebounds to her 32 point outburst while Briaunna King posted an impressive 28 point - 12 rebound double-double of her own.  Also in double-figures for NNU were Chelsie Luke with 11 and Heather Adams with 10.

The Crusaders out-rebounded CSLA 54-35 and outscored the Golden Eagles by nine at the free throw line.  NNU finished 24 for 29 at the line while CSLA was 15 of 23.

"We kept our composure down the stretch and did a great job finishing against a very athletic team," commented NNU head coach Kelli Lindley.  "Bri and Megan were both huge for us offensively."

The Crusaders, who led 48-47 at the half, led by one at 76-75 with 3:05 to play after a Tessondra Williams pulled the Golden Eagles within striking distance of the lead.  NNU answered with a Hingston lay-up, a Heather Adams jumper and seven-of-eight free throw shooting in the final two minutes.

Williams finished with 24 points for the Golden Eagles and Lacy Ramon scored a team-high 27.

The Crusaders will be back in action next Saturday, hosting Warner Pacific at 1 p.m.
