NAMPA, Idaho -
Beth Johnson scored a game-high 16 points but the Crusaders were held to 31.7-percent shooting by 22nd-ranked Seattle Pacific University as the Falcons dealt Northwest Nazarene a 70-57 loss in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game this afternoon at the Johnson Sports Center.
Johnson was joined in double-figures by
Monica Garcia with 11 and
Megan Hingston grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and added six points.
Nyesha Sims led five SPU (11-3, 5-1 GNAC) into to double-digits with 14. The trio of Maddie Maloney, Melissa Reich, and Katie Benson each scored 11 and Caitlyn Rohrbach chipped in with 10.
The Falcons held a 44-33 rebounding edge and converted 46.3-percent (25-54) from the field and 43.8-percent (7-16) from the three point line. The Crusaders were limited to 31.7-percent (19-60) from the floor and were just three-of-16 from the arc.
NNU (9-7, 4-4 GNAC) held a 27-25 lead at the half and a Garcia jumper with 12:12 to play made it 43-40. However, the Falcons would construct a 12-2 run that would decide the game, capped by a Benson free throw with 8:31 left that lifted SPU to a 52-45 lead.
The Crusaders would respond and cut the lead to four after a pair of
Briaunna King free throws with 4:19 remaining made it 58-54, however SPU answered right back, scoring the next 10 straight to seal the road victory. King came off the bench to score nine and grab five rebounds for NNU.
The Lady Crusaders will play their next three on the road, beginning next Saturday at Central Washington University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PT.
