WWU (3-3, 3-3 GNAC) received quality pitching performances from game one starter Sarah McEnroe (1-1) and the game two duo of Erika Hendron and Erika Quint (1-0). McEnroe scattered six hits, while Hendron and Quint combined for the shutout.
The Crusaders (2-4, 2-4 GNAC) were led by Emily Renfrow and Sarah Varady who each had two hits on the day. NNU's Nicole Grummons (1-2) took the game one loss, while Chelsey Anderson (1-2) was saddled with the nightcap defeat.
The Vikings scored four in the second inning of the opener and added single runs in the sixth and seventh. NNU rallied in the bottom of the seventh to push across a pair of unearned runs when Dana Mitchell doubled home Becky Louber, who had reached on an error, and Haley Hevern picked up an RBI, plating Varady, who had singled to left center.
Game two was scoreless into the seventh, as Anderson forced the Vikings to strand eight runners through six innings. However, the Vikings scored four runs in the seventh on two walks and three hits.
The teams will return for a GNAC doubleheader on Saturday at Noon.
