ST. GEORGE, Utah - Grand Canyon University scored the final eight points of the first half and went on to defeat the Crusaders 72-60 at the PacWest/GNAC Challenge on Saturday afternoon in St. George, Utah.
The Antelopes then used a 18-2 run early in the second period to take control as the 'Lopes improved to 8-1 overall. The Crusaders fall to 3-3 overall.
Samantha Murphy paced Grand Canyon with 19 points. Also in double figures were Rosalyn Nelson with 16 points and Jallisa Butler with 10.
Northwest Nazarene was led by Monica Garcia with 14 points. Heather Adams and Briaunna King had 12 and 10, respectively.
The Antelopes out-rebounded NNU 47-32 and had a 21-4 advantage in free throw points. The Crusaders forced 20 GCU turnovers as a result of 10 NNU steals and only committed 10 as a team.
NNU will return to action next weekend with a GNAC contest on Thursday night at Saint Martin's University.
