Saints sweep past Crusaders

NAMPA - The Saint Martin's University softball team swept past Northwest Nazarene University 11-3 and 8-0 on Friday afternoon in a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference games at Halle Field in Nampa.
 
The Saints (14-37, 12-25 GNAC) collected 13 hits in the opener and 15 in the nightcap, including home runs by Brandi Klemm (1) and Morgan Klemm (6) in game one, and Kristine Kaneshiro (3) and Holly Morris (12) in game two.  SMU's Amanda Arnzen (3-7) earned the opening win and Jamie Herrick (7-18) collected the win in game two.
 
The Crusaders (9-42, 5-31 GNAC) were led by senior second baseman Vanessa Shaw who finished four for six on the day.  Chelsey Anderson led NNU in game one with a pair of RBI's on a single in the third and a ground-out in the fifth.  Cara Duckworth (4-14) and Dana Shipley (1-10) each took losses in the circle.
 
The teams will play a triple-header tomorrow, making up a game lost due to weather in Lacey, Washington earlier this season.  Game one is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with games two and three to follow.
