MSU-Billings defeats NNU 4-1 and 8-5 on Saturday afternoon

NAMPA, Idaho - The Montana State University Billings softball team defeated the Crusaders 4-1 in game one and 8-5 in game two as the teams completed the four-game GNAC series at Halle Field on the Northwest Nazarene University campus on Saturday afternoon.

Game One
Terina Stacks led the Yellowjackets (38-12, 29-7 GNAC) in the opener, going two for three with two RBI.  Rebekah Tsatsa and Kelly Parsons each had two hits as the 'Jackets out-hit the Crusaders seven to four.
 
MSUB opened the scoring in the first inning when Stacks led-off with a triple to right centerfield and would score on Tsatsa's first single of the day.  MSUB would add a single run in the third and two in the sixth when Stacks would collect her second hit of the game, a two-run single.  Kasie Conder (16-3) earned the win for the 'Jackets.
 
Cortnee Crane, Vanessa Shaw, and Jael Henthorn each singled for the Crusaders (8-39, 5-29 GNAC), who scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh when Haley Hevern led-off with a double to centerfield and advanced to third on a fly ball to rightfield by Kristin Refsland.  Hevern scored when the MSUB third baseman failed to stop the throw from the outfield, going off her glove and into the NNU dugout.  Chelsey Anderson (2-18) took the loss for the Crusaders.
 
Game Two
MSUB racked-up 15 hits in game two, led by Stevie Howard's three for three and Rebekah Tsatsa's two for two, three RBI performances at the plate.  Leslie Davis, Bobbie Lee, and Stacks each had two hits and Tsatsa hit her fourth home run of the season, a two-run blast in the fifth.
 
Shaw led the Crusader offense, blasting her third home run of the season over the leftfield wall in the fifth, part of a three-run NNU rally that cut the MSUB lead to 7-5.
 
Lisa Moore (10-2) earned the win and Conder picked up her third save of the season, closing the door on the Crusaders in the seventh.  Dana Shipley (1-9) was handed the loss for NNU.
 
The Crusaders will be back in action next week, hosting the College of Idaho on April 28th.
