NAMPA - The cold, wet weather didn't cool the Central Washington bats on Wednesday as the Wildcats swept a GNAC doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene at Halle Field in Nampa.

 

The Wildcats, now 13-8 overall and 11-5 in GNAC play, won the opener 14-3 and took the final game of the series 13-4.  The Crusaders fall to 7-20 overall and 5-14 in league games.

 

CWU had 17 hits in game one, led by Taylor Trautmann and Holly Rossman, who each had three hits and three RBI.  Liz Wallace blasted a three-run home run in the seventh and finished the game with four RBI.

 

Linse Vlahovich (9-3) earned the win for CWU and Dana Shipley (0-4) took the loss for the Crusaders.

 

NNU had seven hits and was led by Arielle Chao's two for three effort.  Chao and Haley Hevern each plated one run, with Chao hitting her third home run of the season in the fourth and Hevern singling in a run in the fifth.

 

Central opened game two with a bang, scoring seven runs in the top of the first to take control and give starter Katriina Reime (3-3) a lead to work behind.  Ashley Fix led the Wildcats with three hits and two RBI, while both Trautmann and Devin Larson, who came off the bench, finished with two hits each.

 

Emily Renfrow led NNU, going two for two, including an RBI single in the fourth.  Chelsey Anderson (2-9) took the loss.

 

The Crusaders will now travel to Western Oregon University and face the Wolves in a four-game GNAC series that starts Friday at 1:00 p.m. PT.  Saturday's games begin at Noon PT.
