CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho swept a non-conference softball doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene on Wednesday afternoon, winning 6-1 and 3-1, at Symms Field in Caldwell.

In the opener, Heather Dixon broke open a tight game in the fifth inning, hitting a three-run homer over the centerfield wall to give the Lady Yotes (6-9) a 4-0 lead.  The senior transfer also added a long solo homer in the nightcap, as the Yotes ended a four-game losing streak.

Jody Zillner pitched well for the Coyotes in the opener, allowing two hits and an unearned run in picking up her fifth win of the season.  Zillner struck out 11 and helped her own cause with a two-run homer in the fifth inning to cap the Coyotes scoring.

Amy Rhoades went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Coyotes, while Haley Hevern had both NNU (4-16) hits, including a double.

The nightcap saw the Yotes take the lead in the second on a Kristen Haugen bases loaded RBI, then added an unearned run on the play when an errant throw allowed Stacy Smith to score.  Dixon would add her second homer of the day in the third, a solo shot, to make it 3-0, before the Crusaders got on the board in the fourth on a solo homer from Arielle Chao.

Brooke Judy got the win, allowing just three hits and a run in her five innings of work, fanning four, with Donnae Carrell getting the final six outs for her first save.

Haley Butcher had two hits for the Lady Yotes in Game 2, while six different NNU hitters recording one hit.

The Crusaders will be back in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Saint Martin's University for a four-game GNAC series in Lacey, Washington.
