First baseman Terina Stacks had five hits, including a bunt single to drive in the winning run in the opener, as Montana State Billings swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball twinbill from Northwest Nazarene by scores of 11-10 and 10-8 Friday at Cenex Stadium.
Stacks' game-winning hit came in the bottom of the 10th after Alyssa Frank was placed on second. Frank moved up to third on a ground out before scoring on Stacks' bunt.
Stacks went five for nine and drove in four runs in the doubleheader. MSUB was also led by Stevie Howard with five hits and three RBI and by Whitney Whittemore with four hits.
In the nightcap, Stacks, Shay Oberg and Amanda Goings all had two RBI and five different players including Stacks, Oberg, Leslie Davis, Whittemore and Howard had two hits each.
Jael Henthorn and Cortnee Crane led NNU with three hits each. Oberg homered for MSUB, while Haley Hevern went deep for NNU, which fell behind 10-3 after four innings before rallying to pull within two at the end.
In the opener, Stacks and Howard had three hits each and Norcross drove in three runs for the Yellowjackets.
Hevern homered twice, including a grand slam in the seventh to tie the game at 10-10 and force extra innings. Vanessa Shaw also hit a grand slam in the fifth and Catherine Lowery and Hevern had solo shots in the fourth as NNU scored all its runs on circuit blasts.
Trailing 6-4, MSUB put together six hits for six runs in the sixth to go ahead 10-6 only to see Hevern tie it in the seventh.
Rebekah Tsatsa went the distance to record the win in the nightcap. Kasie Conder pitched three hitless innings in relief to get the win in the opener.
