Falcons top Crusaders 66-55 in Seattle

SEATTLE - Featured on national television as the CBS College Sports NCAA Division II Game of the Week, the Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team fell 66-55 at Seattle Pacific University on Saturday afternoon at Brougham Pavilion in Seattle.

Daesha Henderson scored 15 points and Seattle Pacific used a 12-0 run late in the first half to grab the lead it would not surrender.  Henderson hit on six of 11 from the floor as the 19th ranked Falcons (15-4) improved to 8-2 in the GNAC.

Maddie Maloney added 14 points, Kelsey Hill had 13 points and nine rebounds and Megan Hoisington chipped in with 11 points and also had five rebounds and five assists to help key the victory.

Northwest Nazarene (12-8, 5-4) was led by Lindsay Brady and Jennifer Williams with 12 points each.  Mallory Whipple finished with nine points and a game-high six assists, while Janee Olds and Kristin Hein each grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

Seattle Pacific used a 34-29 rebound edge and a plus four takeaway advantage (19-23) to get the victory in the contest between two regionally ranked teams. SPU came in No. 3, while the Crusaders are ranked eighth.

This was the first time any Crusader team has appeared on national television and is one of nine live national broadcasts of NCAA Division II men's and women's basketball during the 2008-09 regular season.
