Brady explodes for 28, Crusaders win at St.Martin's 84-77

Lindsay Brady scored  a career -high 28 points and Kristin Hein had 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead Northwest Nazarene to a 84-77 road win at Saint Martin's Saturday putting NNU in position to earn a post-season playoff berth next weekend.

The regionally seventh-ranked Crusaders (17-8, 10-4) have won five straight and now close out their season at home against Central Washington and Seattle Pacific.

NNU is unbeaten in 10 home contests this season and has won 14 straight on their home court dating back to a 68-67 loss to SPU on Feb. 2, 2008.

The Falcons will likely come to Nampa ranked in the Top 10 in the nation and No. 1 in the region after defeating Western Oregon 70-39 on Saturday.

Brady scored 18 of her 28 points in the second half, making five of six shots, including two three-pointers and all six of her free throws. Hein had 11 of her 21 points after the break.

NNU opened up a 32-20 lead in the first half only to see the Saints, who were led by Dara Zack with 20 points and 10 rebounds, run off 11 points in a row to climb to within one point.

The Crusaders, however, got the final four points of the half to lead 36-31 and never trailed in the final 20 minutes.

NNU led by 14 (66-52) at the halfway point of the period. The Saints, pulled to with four at 76-72 on a three-pointer by Katie Hawkins with 1:32 left.

Brady, however, then hit a jumper with 1:13 left and then made four free throws in the final 37 seconds to clinch the victory.

In addition to Brady and Hein, NNU also got 10 points from Brittney Roggenkamp. Point guard Mallory Whipple had eight points, eight assists and four of NNU's 16 steals.

Megan Teade made three of four three-pointers and had 17 points for the Saints. Jamey Gelhar finished with 16 points and five assists and made her only two free throws to extend her NCAA record streak to 78.
