NAMPA, Idaho - Western Washington University swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball twinbill from the Crusaders, winning the opener 12-2 and taking game two 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Halle Field on the NNU campus.
Meghan Flem led the Vikings (3-1), going six for seven on the day, hitting two home runs and plating nine total RBI's.
The Crusaders (1-3) were led by
Vanessa Shaw and Arielle Chao as Shaw finished three for six and Chao went two for five with two RBI.
WWU's Sarah McEnroe (2-1) earned the win in the opener and a save in the nightcap, pitching six innings in game one and coming in for game two winner Jessica Rosencrants (1-0), tossing two and one-third innings of relief for the Vikings.
Chelsey Anderson (0-2) took the game one loss for NNU, while Cara Duckworth (1-1) took the game two setback.
The Crusaders will travel to Western Oregon University next weekend for a four-game GNAC series against the Wolves. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PST on Friday and Noon PST on Saturday.
