Janee Olds scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team to a 88-79 victory over Western Washington University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
Olds led a quartet of Crusaders (10-5, 3-1 GNAC) into double-figures as
Jennifer Williams and
Lindsay Brady each added 15 and Kristen Hein scored 10. Williams led the Crusaders attack on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds to finish with the game's only double-double performance as NNU out-rebounded the Vikings 48-34.
Amanda Dunbar led the Vikings (9-5, 1-2 GNAC) with a game-high 37 points, making seven of 14 three pointers and 12 of 19 shots from the field. Gabby Wade added 11. Dunbar's 37 points was the second-highest all-time single-game effort for a Viking and was the highest for a GNAC player this season.
Crusader point guard
Mallory Whipple led a steady NNU offensive effort, scoring nine and handing out a game-high six assists against just three turnovers in 35 minutes of action. NNU shot 41.1-percent (30-73) from the floor and three of 13 from the three point line but converted on 80.6-percent (25-31) from the free throw line.
The Vikings shot 45.2-percent (28-62) from the field and were seven of 18 from beyond the arc, will all triples coming off the hand of a red-hot Dunbar.
The Crusaders will travel to Alaska next week for a pair of GNAC match-ups, facing Alaska Anchorage on Thursday (1/22) and Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday (1/24).
