Crusaders grab 15 wins at 2008 Eastern Oregon Invitational

LaGrande, Ore. - The Northwest Nazarene track & field team took advantage of some amazing spring weather as they posted 15 individual event wins, one school record and one NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark on Saturday at the 2008 Eastern Oregon Invitational.

Grant Miller set the Crusader school record in the hammer throw, placing third overall with a toss of 165-10, while Greg Hamm won the triple jump with an NCAA provisional mark and lifetime best jump of 47-5 3/4.

"The teams results at the midway point of the outdoor season indicate that we are in good shape as we prepare to sharpen and continue to qualify for the GNAC Championships coming up on May 2nd and 3rd," commented NNU head coach John Spatz.  "Both teams have their eyes fixed on possible top-4 team finishes at the championships."

Leading the list of event winners for the men were Dan Hill in the 400m (51.09), Dallas Beaty in the 400H (56.53), Zach Barclay in the shot put (47'1.75"), Grant Miller in the discus (140'3"), Josh Heidegger in the javelin (186'8") and the 4 x 400 relay team  (Dan Hill, Matt Stark, Dallas Beaty, Tim Green) with a time of 3:26.57.

Latoya Tidwell led the women's team effort with wins in both the 100 and 200-meter races (13.05/ 25.98), Amy Carroll doubled in the discus and shot put (120'11"/ 39'7"), Laura Von Arx doubled with two PR's for wins in the long and triple jumps (16'5"/35'7"), Ashley Puga won the 800m (2:16.43), Ashley Rendahl grabbed the 5K title (20:11.82), Annie Larlee took gold in the 400H (1:08.21), MJ Usabel won the pole vault (10'6") and the NNU 4 x 400 relay team grabbed the final win with a time of 4:05.97.
