ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Nichole Schutte scored 13 points and grabbed a career and game-high 15 rebounds, but the eighth-ranked Seawolves defeated the Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team 68-55 on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex in Anchorage.

 

Schutte's career night on the glass helped the Crusaders out-rebound UAA 45-33, however, the Crusaders would score just 17 second half points after leading 38-35 at the half.  Janee Olds joined Schutte in double-figures with 11.

 

NNU (7-4 GNAC, 14-6) was held to 21-percent (6-28) shooting in the second half, including a 1-for-9 mark from the three-point line.  The Crusaders would finish the game at 30.9-percent (17-55) from the field and only 2-of-13 from the arc.

 

Alaska Anchorage (9-2 GNAC, 20-3) was led by Rebecca Kielpinski's 19 points and nine rebounds, with Ruby Williams grabbing the games other double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.    Maria Nilsson and Kalhie Quinones also hit double-figures with 13 and 12 points each.

 

Ranked eighth-nationally and fourth in the NCAA West Region, the Seawolves retain their hold of second-place in the GNAC, while the Crusaders are tied with Saint Martin's in the win column in third place and are ranked sixth in the West Region this week.

 

NNU will return home to host Western Washington on Thursday and Central Washington on Saturday in a pair of GNAC counters.  Both games will tip-off at 7 p.m. MST.
