SPOKANE, Wash. - Led by
Josh Wageman and
Ashley Morman, twelve Northwest Nazarene University cross country student-athletes have been named to the 2008 Great Northwest Athletic Conference cross country all-academic team.
Wageman, a senior from Meridian, Idaho, majors in Pre-Physical Therapy and carries a 3.95 grade point average (GPA) to lead the men's team, while Morman, a junior from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, carries a matching 3.95 GPA while majoring in Business Administration. Both make their second appearance on the team.
A pair of seniors and now three-time members of the all-academic squad,
Ashley Puga (Accounting, Sr., 3.94, Meridian, ID) and
Jennifer Young (Chemistry, Sr., 3.94, Florence, OR) were right behind Morman for highest GPA honors on the team.
Earning honors for the second year in a row were
Greg DeSimone (Biology/Pre-Med, Jr., 3.47, Las Vegas, NV),
Hank Hetrick (Engineering Physics, Jr., 3.41, Caldwell, ID) and
Miriam Reardon (Social Work, Jr., 3.74, Grangeville, ID).
Caleb Reynolds (Christian Ministry, So., 3.52, Yakima, WA),
Jaclyn Puga (Biology, So., 3.46, Meridian, ID),
Shannon DeBoer (Recreation & Sports Management, Sr., 3.31, Othello, WA),
Elisa Decker (Pre-Physical, So., 3.30, Vancouver, WA) and Jamie Beaty (Social Work, Sr., 3.27, Jefferson, OR) all make their first appearance.
With a total of 58 student-athletes earning academic honors conference-wide (22 men and 36 women) a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university to earn the academic all-conference honor.
