LA GRANDE, Ore. -
Ashley Puga posted a time of 11:11 to lead the Northwest Nazarene University women's cross country team to a 23-35 win over Eastern Oregon University in a 3,000-meter race on Saturday in La Grande.
Puga finished four seconds ahead of EOU's Marcella Bosch and
Jaclyn Puga wrapped up third for NNU with her third place finish of 11:21.
NNU finished third in the men's race with Josh Wageman placing third individually to lead the team effort. Wageman posted 15:55 in the 5,000-meter race as the Crusaders scored 47 points behind Team Greyhound with 32 points and EOU with 41.
Megan Oberst finished sixth (11:54), Jamie Beaty was seventh (11:58),
Ashley Rendahl was ninth (12:03) and
Elisa Decker was tenth (12:09) as NNU had six of the top 10 finishers in the women's event.
Also running were
Shannon DeBoer (12th, 12:12),
Miriam Reardon (13th, 12:20),
Danielle Beesley (15th, 12:38), Ashley Mormon (18th, 13:02) and Jen Young (19th, 13:12).
On the men's side, Neil Easter posted a top-10 finish with 16:09 to finish sixth overall. Jason Towery was 11th in 16:26, Luke Hetrick was 14th with 16:34 and Hank Hetrick was 17th in 16:52.
Also competing were Alex Crystal (21st, 17:10), Josh Merioles (27th, 17:37), Greg DeSimone (31st, 17:53), Caleb Reynolds (32nd, 18:02) and Mike Lewis (34th, 18:19).
The Crusaders will now prepare for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships, held next Saturday in Yakima, Washington.
