CSU Dominquez Hills downs Crusaders 77-68

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the young season on Saturday night, falling to Cal State Dominguez Hills 77-68 at the Eva Schicke Memorial Classic presented by Stanislaus Farm Supply at Warrior Arena.

Picked to finish first in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in the pre-season CCAA coaches poll, the Toros had two players score 20 points or more as Brigayle Iglehart scored 25 and Jessica Liang had 20. Iglehart also added five rebounds and four assists to her game-high totals.

"Dominguez Hills is a good team," commented NNU coach Kelli Lindley. "Our ladies did everything we asked of them and competed very well. We got good shots, but they just didn't go in. I was pleased with our effort tonight."

Jennifer Williams led the Crusaders with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Janee Olds scored 14 and Kristen Hein added 11. NNU, who committed 27 turnovers on Friday, took care of the basketball on Saturday, committing just 18 turnovers and forcing the Toros into 18 of their own.

"If we make the postseason…I'm sure we are going to get another shot at them," Lindley added on a potential rematch with the Toros. "They are a legit team and I can see why they were picked to win the CCAA."

The Toros moved to 2-0 on the season after defeating the University of Tampa 54-53 on Friday night. NNU, now 1-1, defeated CSU Stanislaus 79-63 in their season opener.
