NAMPA, Idaho – The annual The Legends Golf Classic presented by RW Investment Management hosted by the Northwest Nazarene Athletics Department has been canceled.

The tournament was set to be played Friday, June 5, but out of an abundance of caution and because of Governor Brad Little's "Stages of Reopening" for the state of Idaho the decision was made to not hold the tournament this year.

The 40th annual tournament was set to honor Dr. Ken Hills, a longtime supporter of Northwest Nazarene Athletics and former Vice President for Student Development at the university. Dr. Hills will be the Legends honoree in 2021.

"We love this community and are disappointed we don't get to come together and celebrate Dr. Ken Hills and NNU Athletics this June," NNU Athletic Director Kelli Lindley said, "but our No. 1 priority is ensuring that we do our part to help keep everyone safe and well.

"We look forward to honoring Ken in 2021 and are hopeful the Legends will bounce back from a one-year hiatus bigger and better than before this pandemic."

The tournament's proceeds go directly to support Nighthawks student-athletes and athletic programs. The event has assisted young men and women student-athletes in securing their education at NNU and is the primary fundraising activity for NNU Athletics.
