NEW ORLEANS - Four individuals and both the men's and women's track and field programs at Northwest Nazarene earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honors this week as the association announced their annual scholar-athlete awards for the 2010 track season.
NNU's women's team was one of 67 NCAA Division II teams across the nation to earn all-academic team honors with a team GPA of 3.39, while the men's team was one of 34 Division II squads recognized with a team GPA of 3.11. To earn the distinction of a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, each team must post a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Michelle Phillips,
Jaclyn Puga, and Laura Von Arx were each named individually to the 2010 USTFCCA NCAA Division II All-Academic Women's Team, while
Maurus Hope was honored on the 2010 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Academic Men's Team.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division II indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard. This year 276 women and 156 men were honored.
