NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene University head baseball coach Tim Onofrei has announced that Sam Cook has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to attend NNU and play baseball for the Crusaders this fall.
Cook (3B, R/L, 6-2, 195, Nampa, ID), a three-sport athlete at Skyview High School in Nampa, is currently hitting .387 with five doubles, 15 RBI, and a .537 slugging percentage through 18 games of his senior season.
“We are excited to have Sam join our program,” Onofrei commented. “He is a young third baseman that has the potential to be an excellent Division II ballplayer.”
As a junior, Cook was named to the 4A All-Southern Idaho Conference baseball second team and was selected to play in the Idaho All-Star Showcase game. He hit .385 with 23 RBI's, 5 doubles and 3 home runs as a junior.
Last fall on the gridiron Cook averaged 296 yards passing per game, threw for 24 touchdowns, finished with 2,669 yards passing, and was named to the first-team 4A All-Southern Idaho Conference all-star team at quarterback.
