Crusaders 3rd, Zach Grunig tied for 8th after opening 36-holes at the College of Idaho Invitational

WILDER, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene men's golf team sits in third place after the opening 36-holes of the College of Idaho Invitational, played at River Bend Golf Course in Wilder.  Sophomore Zach Grunig is tied for eighth place individually, posting rounds of 72-75 for 147, over the 6,884-yard, par 72 layout.
 
The Crusaders fired team rounds of 301-302 604 and sit behind leader Concordia University (OR) (296-290 586) and host College of Idaho (298-295 593).  The three teams will be paired together tomorrow in the final round.
 
"We played steady golf today," commented NNU coach Craig Stensgaard.  "Nothing really low, but nice and steady.  We are in good position going into tomorrow and we have a chance to move up the leaderboard, both as a team, and individually for a couple of the guys."
 
All five Crusaders placed in the top-20, with Jeff McDonald (76-75) in 13th, Leon Vasquez (78-74) in 14th, Aaron VanDeHey (75-78) in 15th, and Rowdy Hope (78-78) tied for 19th.
 
Concordia's Will Snow leads all players at 3-under par 141 after rounds of 69-72.
 
Also competing for the Crusaders as individuals were Tanner Roggenkamp (T23, 75-82  157), Bryan Beaty (40th, 85-88 173), Nic Gibson (41st, 86-90 176), Adam Freiburghaus (43rd, 92-95 187), and Brian Flanders (T44th, 95-99 194).
 
The final round will begin tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
