Jill Bennett, Ben Heidegger lead day 1 of the Multi's

NAMPA ID – The first day of the NNU Combined and Open Events meet got under way with the Men's decathlon and the Women's heptathlon. At the end of day 1, NNU's Ben Heidegger (So. Medford, OR) led the men's field with a total of 2818 points in the decathlon, and NNU's Jill Bennett (So. Grants Pass, Or.) led the Women's field with a total of 2175.

Heidegger took 1st in three events (100m -11.90, Shot Put – 10.32m, and the 400m – 52.68) and took 2nd in the long jump (5.54m) and in the high jump (1.59m). Heidegger has a chance to hit the GNAC automatic qualifier of 5400 points with a good day 2.

Bennett swept day 1 with victories in all 4 events (100 Hurdles – 17.64 w: -4.4, HJ – 1.49, Shot put – 8.50m and in the 200m – 28.31). Bennett also looks to hit the GNAC auto qualifier of just over 4400 points on day 2.

Day 2 of the multi event continues tomorrow on the NNU track at 11:00am with the Men's 110 High hurdles, and the Women begin at 12:00 with the long jump. The Men's and Women's open Javelin will be Friday evening and competition continues with the full slate of events on Saturday beginning at 10:30 am.
