NAMPA, ID – The Crusader Track team concluded Day 2 of the United Heritage Invitational at the Jackson’s Track in Nampa, Idaho.
The day was marked by a number of Crusaders qualifying for the GNAC Conference Championships, which will be held at the Jackson’s track on Feb. 20th.
On the Men’s side, Tim Steiglitz (Fr. Medford, OR) won the 60m Hurdles in 9.03 which is .14 off the automatic qualifier of 8.89. Derek Sepe (So. Everett, WA) turned in a 2nd place finish in the 60m with a time of 7.25 just ahead of teammates Dan Hill (Jr. Castleford, ID), Cameron Colby (Fr. Tualitin, OR) and Marus Hope (So. Adrian, OR).
On the Women’s side, Ashley Rendahl (Jr. Hailey, ID) capped off the last of her 3 races with a 2nd place finish in the 5,000m with a time of 19:42.00 which is just off the school record of 19:36.8. Jordan Powell (Fr. Nampa, ID) placed 2nd in the 3,000m delivering a 12 second personal best, and sits 2nd all time in the 3,000 behind Ashley Puga. Other GNAC qualifiers on the women’s side were Melissa Grammer (Fr. Valdez, AK) 8:14 in the 60m and 26.57 in the 200m and MJ Usabel moved into 4th in the GNAC rankings with a personal best in the pole vault with a jump of 10’10” (3.30m).
Coach Dustin Ainsworth had the quote of the day when he said “In regards to today’s performances...... I just can’t wait until conference” “As our training load switches in the next two weeks and we feel better and better, I just can’t wait to see what we will do.” “We have done a great job of competing through our training and the next two week should be a lot of fun.”
The Crusaders are at home again next week at the Jackson’s Track with Pentathlon and Heptathlon events 5:00 on Friday 12th and all other events Saturday beginning at 9:00am. The Crusaders will host the GNAC Conference Championships at home the following week at the Jackson’s Track, Feb 20th.
