SPOKANE, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene's
Kristin Hein has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball Player-of-the-Week for the second-straight week, as announced by the conference office this morning in Spokane.
Hein, (F, 5-11, Sr., Tualatin, OR) earned her third tournament MVP award of the season as she scored 34 points and hauled in 27 rebounds in wins over Cal State Stanislaus and Humboldt State this past weekend. Hein, who made 13 of 26 shots, set a GNAC single-game rebound record with 23 in Saturday's win over Humboldt State, which is the current leader in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with a 4-0 conference record.
Her 27 rebound output over the weekend moved her up three places into 18th on the GNAC all-time career rebounding list with 644. With the 23 rebounds against Humboldt State, she broke the old GNAC single-game rebound record of 22 previously shared by Seattle Pacific's Kristin Poe and Carli Smith and Humboldt's Jenna Washington.
The Crusaders (7-1) will host the NNU GNAC/CCAA Classic this weekend, facing Cal State L.A. on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
