Hein sets GNAC rebounding record as Crusaders defeat Humboldt State 80-66

ARCATA, Calif. – Kristin Hein set a Great Northwest Athletic Conference single-game record with 23 rebounds on Saturday night as the Northwest Nazarene University women's basketball team defeated Humboldt State University 80-66 at the Humboldt State Classic in Arcata.

Hein, who earned a third-straight tournament MVP award this weekend, scored 14 points and grabbed seven offensive and 16 defensive rebounds to claim the conference record.  She finished the weekend with 34 points and 27 rebounds.

NNU freshman point-guard Heather Adams posted her career-high and joined Hein with 14 points, while Janee Olds and Brittany Roggenkamp each added 12.

Olds joins Hein on the all-tournament team, along with Jennifer Dreessen of Notre Dame de Namur, Katie Busi of CSU-Stanislaus, and Brittney Taylor of Humboldt State.

The Crusaders, now 7-1 overall, shot 50-percent (19-38) from the floor in the first half to open a 47-17 halftime lead, holding HSU to 6-of-30 shooting in the opening half.

NNU cruised home with the 14-point victory finishing at 44-percent (30-68) from the floor and out-rebounding the Lumberjacks 52-41.

Taylor led HSU with a game-high 27 points, while Kayla Williams scored 12 and Bree Halsey pulled down 12 rebounds.

The Crusaders will now host the NNU GNAC/CCAA Classic this weekend at the Johnson Sports Center, facing Cal State LA on Friday and Cal Poly Pomona next Saturday.
